Dates Clash Between Kedarnath and Simmba

The issue arose when Sara ali khan‘s management agency offered her dates for the Ranveer Singh-starrer Simmba, which was also being filmed around the same time as Kedarnath. This led to a clash in dates between the two films, which did not sit well with the Kedarnath producers.

“In May 2018, I was supposed to do Simmba. Kedarnath was happening; it was my debut film. Then, some dates went upar neeche and I also signed Simmba. Now, there were 3-4 dates that were coinciding. And yeah, I got sued for Rs. 5 crores (by the makers of Kedarnath)! I was very nervous because I didn’t have Rs. 5 crores (smiles),” Sara revealed in an interview.

Personal Turmoil During the Lawsuit

Adding to the stress of the lawsuit, Sara ali khan was also dealing with a personal tragedy during this time. “My mother (Amrita Singh) was in Delhi as her father was dying. Ibrahim was in school. And I was served a vakalatnama. I was like, ‘Ab iska main kya karoon? Samaj hi nahin aa raha’!” she said.

Resolving the Issue Through Mediation

Fortunately, the issue was resolved through mediation between the producers of Kedarnath and Simmba. “Rohit sir (Rohit Shetty) and Gattu sir (Abhishek Kapoor) met in a room. Ranveer Singh (her co-star in Simmba) was also present and he said, ‘Okay, then’ and quickly left the room as it was a bit strange.” Ultimately, the Kedarnath makers agreed to only require three days from Sara, and Rohit Shetty said, “Theek hai, le lo”.

Juggling Shoots and Maintaining Relationships

Despite the legal troubles, Sara ali khan managed to juggle the shoots for both Kedarnath and Simmba, often flying back and forth between Hyderabad and Mumbai. “It was tricky as I spent a lot of time flying from Hyderabad to Mumbai. I was shooting simultaneously; Simmba at night and Kedarnath in the morning,” she revealed.

The lawsuit also temporarily strained Sara’s relationship with Kedarnath director Abhishek Kapoor. However, she later made efforts to mend the relationship, saying, “After that, the shoot was smooth.” Sara emphasized that there is no bad blood between them, and “He also had his reasons. And it’s all good now.”

Cherishing Memories with Sushant Singh Rajput

Despite the challenges, Sara has fond memories of working on Kedarnath with her co-star Sushant Singh Rajput, who tragically passed away in 2020. “I just went to Sushant and I was like, I don’t know how to do this. There’s one, this, this line, just show me. And he just showed me. And I just went and I copied him. Being able to speak Hindi the way that I do, is something that people appreciate about me quite often whether it’s being as curious as I think I am, so much of it is Sushant. Any love I’ve gotten for ‘Kedarnath’ and it’s a lot, it’s just all him. I can’t give you a memory,” she said.

Overcoming Challenges and Emerging Stronger

Despite the legal troubles and personal challenges, Sara Ali Khan emerged from the experience stronger and more resilient. Her debut in Kedarnath was well-received, and she went on to establish herself as a talented and versatile actress in Bollywood.

“My favorite memory from working with Sushant Singh Rajput (deceased), would be when he showed me how to do a certain line from ‘Kedarnath.’ And it all made sense after that – there’s so much love for that movie because of him! Any appreciation I receive is all down to him; so many wonderful experiences…it would be impossible for me to choose just one,” she said.
