Harleen sethi, who was diagnosed with PCOD at the age of 21, shared that her cortisol levels were constantly spiking, leading to severe acne issues since her teenage years. Despite seeing dermatologists who prescribed antibiotics, the root cause of her problem remained unaddressed.

Harleen’s mother suggested that she switch from high-intensity workouts to yoga as a means of managing her PCOD. The actress revealed that the practice of pranayama, or controlled breathing exercises, has been particularly beneficial for her.

“Pranayama has been particularly beneficial for me,” Harleen said, emphasizing the importance of finding the right balance in her yoga practice.

Exploring Different Yoga Styles

Harleen shared that she has never been a fan of power yoga and prefers traditional Hatha Yoga instead. She also incorporates Yin Yang and Iyengar Yoga into her routine, each offering unique benefits.

“It’s not about how long you hold a pose, but how your body feels. I also practise Yin Yang and Iyengar Yoga. While Yin Yang emphasises deep breathing with each pose, Iyengar Yoga involves the use of ropes, blocks, chairs, and other props to help push your limits,” Harleen explained.

In addition to her yoga practice, Harleen also mentioned that the practice of jal neti, a process of cleansing the nasal passages, has helped alleviate her sinus issues.

“Practising different forms of yoga helps you achieve a good balance. Although I often travel for shoots and have erratic schedules, I still make it a point to be consistent and learn different forms of yoga,” Harleen added, emphasizing the importance of a holistic approach to wellness.
